Vijay Bhalla, a hero !

Vijay Bhalla, a hero !

Vijay Bhalla brought a semblance of calmness, peace, tranquility, rationality and centration to this restless bunch of musketeers, Mavericks, eccentrics and irrationals. A very sincere, polite man of integrity and simplicity.

He was a very shy individual. I remember, when he was engaged to Neelam, he was very reluctant to go and see her. So an ultimatum was issued to him to see her within 7 days or strict action would be taken. As was his wont, he didn’t comply. So one fine afternoon,3 jokers (yours truly, Sukhi and Dana) paid a surprise courtesy call to Neelam Bhandari in her school. This is how he was towed in line.

He excelled in another art. Whistling ! It is an art which comes naturally to a few gifted people. It can’t be learnt. We had two ace whistlers in our class. They were Vijay Bhalla & Dharma. Girls, the shrill loud whistles piercing the eerie silent night around girls hostel were generated by the duo. They could fight, taunt and sing songs through whistles. Alas! None of these two masters are with us today.

Within a short span of time, we have lost 2 gems. May almighty give solace to Neelam bhabhi and entire family who toiled and fought along with him all these years, She was the force behind his grit, determination and perseverance . Hats off to her !

Rest in peace dear brother. You shall always live in our hearts.
